I have a bass I love playing. I love it's aesthetic, it's weight and versatility. I cannot love the machine heads. They work fine. They are good quality Gotohs, but the button/paddle whatever you call it just does not do it for me in this context. Does anyone know of a supplier of replacements? I can take them off and leave the body of the machine head there. I am such a tart.

As the stem is normally matched to the machine head gearing, I'd be surprised if you can separate them. Best to buy a new set of tuners?

The stem stays in place, it is the actual flat paddle bit which comes off

But I do appreciate you answering!

I am thinking of this kind of thing, but sized correctly

IIRC Gotoh make their own replacement buttons for their machine heads. There is been a custom configurator somewhere on their site. Alternatively get someone to mill or cast some for you.

There was a supplier of wooden ones on ebay. I was going to get a set for my Bex4 but the centre hole is machined for guitar size, not bass, so I gave up.

Ebay item number 371436430252 for the supplier of the guitar ones, maybe worth a message to see if they can get bass ones.
Sorry, don't know how to link ebay on my phone.
