Just got this out of the box to add to one I bought a few months back.

My new rock band has its first gig on Saturday so I should be able to give it some welly. I'm very much enjoying my recently acquired Trace Elliot head so through 2 x Supercompacts it should make an impression :)

And here was me thinking that that my 2 MK2 compacts was ridiculous overkill ...

Hmmm, `spose my two Super 12Ts come into that category then?

With the top speaker closer to ear level, regardless of volume, I prefer standing in front of 2 anyway, it's much more 'rewarding' to the players ear than one.

10ft away there probably wouldn't be much difference, but on an average pub / club gig I'm never usually further than 5ft away from the amp..

Here's a pic from last weekend - love the way the lights have made my head go purple! Must've had an itchy lug'ole at the time too!

I find one plenty for most situations but two looks cooler. And with a 30W valve amp driving them having the extra speaker area is ace:

Looks like your drummer is looking at your rig and thinking "please dont hurt me".

Weirdly - when I say I'm only gonna use 1 cab for a particular room - it's usually him who says to use both!

He gives as good as he gets volume wise mind you!

Thanks. It was :)

I put this in another thread:
...first outing for my new rig - Trace Elliot head RAH300-12 SMX into 2 x BF Supercompacts. Bass was my Squier Katana, which is the first time I have gigged with that.

Rig was phenomenal. Best sound I have ever had, period. Real authority and presence, like when I used to have my much loved and missed old Trace Elliot rig, but with greater clarity and punch from the Supercompacts. A bass player who was watching right at the back of the room said as soon as I started playing it hit him straight in the gut, which is good! Katana bass was fantastic, a marvelous woody precision tone that could be dull and thuddy or sharp and edgy and maybe a touch more bite than some of my other Ps. In the context of the band it was the perfect sound I was looking for. Looked the mutts, too.
