Thunderpaws
http://www.ampeg.com/products/portaflex/pf-50t/ Look what I just saw. Looks interesting but damn ugly!
JapanAxe
Ooh! A modern-day B15 for the masses?
Lozz196
Very retro. Interesting too, wonder how it will sound - c`mon youtube, hurry up with the goods.
Thunderpaws
Yeah, I know, shocking. Wonder how loud the 50 will go and how many rock guitars it could cut through and how it would fair in pub rock. Imagine releasing a product and not having a video ready! JapanAxe
How the hell do you carry the head around? No mention in the manuals of any flip-top shenanigans...
mazdah
I really wanted them to have vintage, 2-band Bandaxall EQ. Pf50 looks like svt preamp, pf20 looks like pf350 preamp with tubes. I was never fan of pf350 (although I had one). Not for me, I have better and cheaper Ampegs in my rack case. :-(
Bigwan
€799 and €1199 respectively from a quick google trawl. A bit pricey I think. Surprised they didn't go for a 100w version too, but I suppose you're into V4 territory then... Agree on the preamp - if they want to go old-school why not do it properly? Musicman20
How much?!?! The 50 is gig worthy but that is a lot of money.

I'd like to try one, but I can't help feeling they could have done much better with these.
basshead56
Videos with Dino are up on the facebook. Looks and sounds cool. Not sure 50watts would cut it, but still a tasty little amp. I like the ability to use minus cab load also, cool little feature
mazdah
I'm pretty sure both will suffice for small gigs, I never had any trouble with Little Bastard, of course I never wanted clean sounding amp ;-) But I think they are a little bit pricy... Musicman20
Nice idea but it needs turning up! I can barely hear the amp.

The amps look great and I'm sure they will sound great too, but these demos look like they were recorded with a phone, which makes the amps sound horrible. How hard can it be to put a bit of effort into getting a better recorded sound? Especially when you're demonstrating an amp designed primarily for studio use. JapanAxe
I agree, the sound is atrocious, and the demos are not doing a good job of selling the amps. Maybe Dino should let the chaps at Pro Guitar Shop have a go - everything they demo sounds brilliant!
Thunderpaws
And the cost....Holy Molley. Had a look on Thomann and am astounded.
Thunderpaws
You can use this DI without a cab attached too. Makes so much sense for recording at home and those mostly into small gigs with PA support. I actually now want one!

JapanAxe
Pretty sure a couple of BC members have PF50s, just can't remember their user names! I was toying with the idea of a PF50 until the pound/euro rate pushed the prices up. Now I'm waiting for them to appear in BC marketplace... Cat Burrito
I have the PF50T but missed this thread when it came out. It sounds immense! I'm really happy with it and for the record it isn't ugly! Special warning though, it doesn't fit into the PF cabs from the firs six months of production (i.e. not a problem for most but a huge problem for some!! Chienmortbb
Approximately £17 per watt. Hmm!
