Hi Folk,
I have the following kit.

MarkBass LM3
MarkBass Mini CMD121P
Barefaced Midget
Barefaced One10

Recently I've been playing bass using my LM3 and the Barefaced cabs. All with no problems. It all sounded great.

Deciding to trade my CMD121 I took it out to try it out for a last go.
It played ok, but on notes at the bottom end of the E string the cone seemed to be fluttering, like a fart. All this is at low volume in my lounge at home.

Worried, I removed the combo from sale on BC and started to investigate. I checked the mount of the driver. Nothing untoward, so I took out the amp from the combo to a try it on the Midget. The Midget started making the same noise, so I then tried it on the One10, same again.

I then put my LM3 back onto the One10 and that's now farting too!!!

This was all at low volume. PLEASE tell me I've not totally blown all the drivers. If there's a fault with a head, can it really blow a driver without turning the gain or volume up above 20% ?

I've seen there's a guy in Essex who fixes MarkBass. I think I may be off there in the morning. But can anyone help please?

OK, I've now played the LM3 through the Midget and that's OK.

Playing the LM3 through the One10 with the same bass, cord, speakon lead etc, that's not well.

I then put the LM3 together with the Cab of the CMD, again it's not good.

There's not been any bangs, sparks etc. So there's no sign of a big "event" with anything.

What bass were you using?
Active bass, with battery all but dead and distorting?
If bass is common factor try a new battery in it.

That's gotta be a dodgy cable.....and have you tried a different bass?

I've been playing a Streamer S1 and Streamer LX Fretless, both in Passive mode.

Well, not to be too keen to dismiss the thought, I plugged in a Westone passive.

Problems all gone!!!!
Changed the battery in the Fretless and again... problem all gone!

WOW! Bagsieblue I love you!!

Fancy the problem happening in 2 basses at the same time.

I can sleep now in peace. Many thanks guys.

Ahh, and MudPup, thanks for the suggestion. I have been changing leads too. Thanks all the same.

And who said you only need 1 bass?
