FuNkShUi
I'm starting to use my Precision a fair bit now. Can't fault it apart from the pickups. Bit aggressive sounding for me. Its a CIJ Precision from '97 i think? Something like that. I dont know if the p/ups in there are original or not. I know next to nothing about pickups so i was hoping to get some suggestions from you knowledgable lot. I dont like harshness to my sound. My usual sound is slight bass boost and treble rolled off to 9 O'clock, played on a bass with 8 year old strings. So vintage kind of sound i guess. What you say Basschat? What you say? Lozz196
The best Precision pickup I`ve heard is the Custom Shop 62 which comes as standard in the post 2012 Precisions. It`s really well balanced throughout the whole tone spectrum, can be made warm & syrupy, or hard and aggressive, but it`s just a really well-balanced, great sounding pickup. I actually went and bought a 2015 Precision after hearing Sponge Bobs recording of his 2014 that he is/was selling. I liked it that much. The recording was the bass with all eq set flat, and to me it was the best recorded Precision tone I`d heard in years. I`ve also bought one of these pickups for my MIM backup so that both basses sound similar.

Lozz196
Yes I did, pretty quick turnaround from them too.
