Funky Dunky Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 https://youtu.be/TgntkGc5iBo 28 years gone. Quote
spectoremg Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Staggering to think he's been gone so long and a sad reminder of the circumstances of his demise. Quote
Bilbo Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Do you remember where you were when you heaard? I was in a flat in London having just moved in. I spoke to a friend who was working for Harvey Goldsmith and he had just heard the news through a roadie friend. At that time, I hadn't even heard that JP was in trouble in terms of his mental health etc. Quote
Funky Dunky Posted September 22, 2015 Author Posted September 22, 2015 I was 11 years old, didn't know about Jaco until I started playing guitar (1992). He's absolutely massive in the bass community but still relatively unknown to most non-musicians. Guy was the Hendrix of bass in terms of influence and legacy. Quote
grahamd Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Trujillos film seems to be finally ready for release, a timely reminder of the great man Quote
Funky Dunky Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 Really looking forward to seeing it because it's a passion project and I'm confident it will be exciting and insightful. Quote
lowdown Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Still love listening to that version. Bob Mintzers solo is great, Jaco right on it, clean and with lovely intonation. Pan solo has some great phrases in it as well. After all these years, I still have no problem listening to his playing. One of the greats in the Bass world. Quote
Leonard Smalls Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 One of my favourite tunes with Jaco: A proper builder... Quote
