eubassix
Interesting List/re-List of this bass:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-Guitar-EKO-CAMAC-Fretless-/252085081982?hash=item3ab171177e I sent a question re. the name (EKO I know - Italian? - but what was the 'Camac'??) but received no reply from the original seller (based in my area). The relist (using the same photos of the bass - bought only a week ago; bit of a cheek?) states that it's Japanese:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EKO-Camac-THRU-NECK-Bass-Guitar-MADE-IN-JAPAN-Matsumoku-/121766261471?hash=item1c59d5b2df Does anybody on BC know this/these instruments
Bassassin
There was a thread about this when it was first listed a few months back. Despite the similarities to many through-neck MIJ basses, these were Italian, variations on Eko's BX basses built for Camac, which appears to have been a German label: http://www.fetishgui...ears/eko-camac/ This particular bass appears to have had its body shape modified at some point, I'm fairly confident it was the standard Eko BX shape when it was made. The seller seems to assume it's an MIJ because of the through-neck construction, which he presumably thinks was invented by & exclusive to Matsumoku. Someone should show him an Alembic. Jon. itsmedunc
Seem to remember Eko having something to do with Welson which were an Italian manufacturer/distributor. At some point they may have been built in the same factory but sold under different names... http://www.brandoniguitars.co.uk Edited September 22, 2015 by itsmedunc

Some interesting responses from the current (re) seller re. origin and why it's been relisted so quickly :- "...Personally I think its made in Japan. But as there is no online information at all I am only making this guess based on my own knowledge of 80's guitars....... " & :- "....No reason other than its was too cheap not to flip. Clearly too rare for most people's set searches to find on eBay......" alyctes
Useful (and gobsmacking!) site for weird Italian/Russian/Australian/whatever guitars of the 60s and 70s... Mainly in Italian, but really, just look at the pictures http://www.fetishguitars.com Edited September 22, 2015 by alyctes
Bassassin
I did message the guy with what I know about these, to his credit he's published my message. Hasn't re-worded the actual listing or its title, though... J.
