I think I can answer that! It's from a Eko. I have a Eko B02 short scale bass with one of these. It sounds fantastic.

I subsequently had a bass build, by Brandoni, using a NOS Eko fretless neck, an unspecified (guitar?) body and two of these pickups. Strangely, they both sound the same - despite being spaced quite far apart.
A Shaftesbury perhaps? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RICKENBACKER-BASS-RE...S-/140440003099

Though you'd think a Beatles fanatic would know that it's not just like Paul McCartney's at all.

Wonder if that TRC is genuine?

Very likely. I do like the white front/black back/checked binding on that one. :brow:

Convinced this was the one sold a few months back, Leeds Gumtree I think.
I know I just missed one exactly the same, at £250.

Jason from Bolton will want more, he got £275 for a bolt on Hondo Rickenfaker not too long back.

Hondo bolt on. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/hondo-4001-fireglo-b...ents_Guitars_CV

Why does this have Tokai in the description?

Either a: because the seller's a liar, or b: because there's a (possibly spurious) suggestion that some of Hondo's higher-end stuff - ie not this - was latterly made in Japan by Tokai. There are certainly some confirmed Matsumoku Hondos in the early 80s Professional range, but I've never seen anything positively ID'd as Tokai.

I'm now pretty certain that all of their 70s copy stuff (even the nice ones like the set-neck LP I had) was Korean in origin.
I do like the look of that one.
Cheers mate. It's actually a really nice bass with a cracking sound. It actually sounds a lot more powerful than my Jazz, I've just become too accustomed to the Fenders. It'll make someone very happy it just seems wasted being with me because I don't play it enough.
There has been an extra switch added at some point, which does absolutely nothing.
?????

It'll be interesting to see how much this goes for. Is it a bolt on or a through neck?

Why do they insist on putting manky huge pole piece pickups in these things?

Probably overstocked due to MM copies being loads less popular than P bass ones, plus big poles means you get away with looser string spacing tolerances.
