How do you get on with the string spacing, Ad? A bit tight after a P-bass.
Just done a few rough comparison measurements and string spacing and neck profile are almost exactly the same as my Precision!

I'm guessing Ric's are a bit skinnier? It's not a direct copy thankfully.

Curious!

The same guy has one of these on at £50 start/no reserve - that's probably a bit more interesting:

Right tempted by a red one at £249, though.

Jesus, there's a day left and this Hondo is at £410!!!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-1970s-Hondo-...=item336289e363

I was toying with the idea of keeping my £106 Hondo from Hell when I'd sorted it out but I can't turn my nose up at £300 plus for one on the bay.

This is in great condition but bloody hell, I'd expect a top faker for that price.

Shilled, got to be. Considering there are two other Hondos on at the moment - one with a ludicrous and desevedly ignored £500 BIN, and the other at £180 and running out this afternoon, this looks proper dodgy. You're hard-pushed to get 500 sovs for an Ibanez 2388B - just ask Tino.

There's a decent bolt-neck Matsumoku project here:

Looks OK, the guy seems to believe what any random idiot tells him about it, though. Me, I told him what it actually is. Wonder if he'll believe me? :)

I'm getting confused with all this Rickenfaker price weirdness going on.

I look forward to Hookyssixstringbass posting a Retrovibe review.

If anyone is in the East Midlands and saw the item on shops in Narborough road on the local news, the featured guitar shop is where I bought my Cimar Rickenfaker from.

It's one of the weirdest titles I've seen in a while. Some people are just creative in strange ways.

Completed listing, no bids @ £49 start bid? I'd guess that the seller ended it early. Perhaps he's having some sort of battle with the Ric forum folks.

Yes, he mailed me back when I asked. "Copyright Issues with E-Bay" and he's apparently got some stock in, that he's selling off at £329. :)
A brief review as I haven't had it long.

Finish is really excellent. Hardware is good quality. Neck is like a very slightly shallower Precision. Fretwork is good. The frets are low and thin vintage stylee. Weight is about 8 1/2 lbs. It's very easy to play.
Pickups have a lot of output. Lots of growl and a nice snarly rasp too if you get my drift. Really pushes an amp without being boomy. The neck took a while to settle but it had been travelling in different temperatures for a while before I got it.
Thanks Parcelfarce for the additional 3 days in an unheated depot.

Slight niggles. Vol & Tone do nothing much until they hit zero. I'll replace these. Side dots on the neck are tiny and done in MOP so I can barely see them. I'll get stickers. Fingerboard was dry as a bone. Gave it a bit of oil. Apart from that it's great. I'll probably swap the pickups as I can never resist doing this even when I don't need to.

A bargain at £249.
I received my red RV4 today and I agree with LEB the finish and hardware are superb. Plugging in,my first thought was this sounds really flat untill I realised i'd left the settings on my amp to flat as i'd been using my Tech 21 VT bass deluxe and Leeds through it ... doh!! Anyway sorted the amp and was chuffed to bits with the sound... really chuffed. As LEB said the pups have a lot of output with a lovely growl. I found the vol/tone to be ok (early days at the mo) and the switching between pups gives you a varity of tones. All this is straight out of the box, no string changes (the strings were alright for a cheap set) no set up no nothing just straight out of the box.... Fantastic! I can't wait untill I get some Elites for it and when I find my Korg Pitchblack i'll give it a decent set up.
