Bolt on Shaftesbury. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1980s-Shaftsbury-Bas...=item3f0b654612
A quick disappearance eh? Didn't think Shaftesbury's ever did a bolt on, probably an Aria or a ply Hondo - although the Rickenwaffe were in so quick I didn't get to see it!

Identical model to mine, unless there's some minor difference I've missed.
Is that really an Ibanez? The pickups look far too accurate.

I thought maybe it was an Ibanezfaker.
It probably is. As well as the "mudbucker" version I'm pretty sure they made these kind of more accurate copies too. Looks nice and will probably get he £400 asked for.
Judging by the tuners that looks to have been a Matsumoku made bass. Someone got a bargain!
I had an email 'conversation' with the seller, I warned him about my own experiences about the Rickenwaffe and advised him to give a BIN price, I think he might have thought I was trying to pull a fast one. :) anyway it sold for a lot less than I would've suggested! Funny how some of these reach auction end and others get pulled? You are right it has those Grover type 'wavy' tuners and is probably from the same factory that made the Ibanez bolt on type Rick - I think CMI were an importer's (rebadged) inhouse brand, if you look at the pic the logo is clearly a decal on the headstock rather than the TR cover. Sad to say I missed the last few moments of the auction......

Did Ibanez do a 'faker with a neck toaster and grover copies? The ones I remember started off with the small chrome p/u, moving on to the big mudbucker and finally an accurate looking high gain copy. I think they all had Fender/Rick type tuners as well. Where's Jon when you need him? :)

I think the fact it was listed as a CSI bass helped keep the Rickenpolice away and the price low. I mean, even I have a "CMI Bass" saved search on ebay that this got past.

I have seen Ibanez versions with toaster type PUs also Aria did one - 'Aria Diamond' perhaps it was from that factory? There are many variations on the theme the worst being Hondo II the best perhaps the Ibanez.
