Me And My Bass Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Does anyone own any of the Taurus bass amp range? Looking at the BL450 as a small lightweight amp head solution . . . Cheaper than AG Tone hammer etc http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Taurus_Amplification_BL450.html Quote
discreet Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Looks like a load of bull to me. *Sigh* Seriously though, if BD are selling them they're probably OK. Ring Mark at BD, he'll give you an honest appraisal and tell you if he thinks they'd be suitable for you or not, even though he's selling them. Quote
lowhand_mike Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 the specs look pretty sweet tbh in a nice small package (more choices ) Quote
spyder Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I had a combo amp based on a valve preamp design that sounded very good. Had a tight modern punchy sound. Really miss that combo. Looking at the Qube 300 myself. 😀 Quote
Happy Jack Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 That will need to sound pretty good to make up for the stylistic disaster that is the fascia. Quote
mazdah Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I don't own any Taurus gear, but I know their stuff enough to have an opinion. IMHO they are just like Mayones are in bass guitars category. Modern, hi-fi sound with some unique features, that you might or might not like. The sound is clean and solid, VERY punchy, with bright top end and solid lows, a little bit dry. I prefer more "wet" "soft" and "mid-oriented" sounds (Ampeg!) There's nothing wrong with them, but I'd never use them for my P-bass, especially with flatwound strings, whereas I'd have no troble using Tone Hammer, which I find richer and warmer sounding. IMHO they are made for modern and/or heavier music. Quote
