Hello Everyone,

Up for sale is my trusted 1970s Japanese or Korean bass?

I bought this bass in the states a few years ago, from a used guitar shop in LA and brought It back home as i liked the way it looked, and played acoustically.

I always suspected it was maybe Hondo II ?

It has no decal- so I added one I had lying around (tut!) and replaced the awful pups (Artec vintage alnico £20) -they sound fine, I did try SD 1/4Lb's for a while and they rumped ! and had it set up at Tom Waghorn guitar in Bristol (£45)

My only criticism is the sheer weight of the bass and the tuners, which tend to resonate (and could be upgraded-they look very similar size to mexican fender ones)But I've left the bass un-modified (original bridge and tuners)

The body is made from three chunks of ash and I looks maple on maple neck. Korean or Japanese the bass is nice and good condition for age-not butchered, and deserves to be played- I haven't used it in a while.

See earlier thread, with the resident Japan bass expert, Jon:-

£120 ? or maybe Part Ex for good Bass DI such as MXR-M80 or Tech 21 Sansamp bass driver DI?

Collection from Central Bristol BS3 or Maybe postage depending on the deal.

Cheers Neil
I'm sure captain japcrap could identify this for you, he'll no doubt be along shortly!
No - in an effort not to appear predictable & obvious I'll do no such thing!

However:

And I'd happily pay the same as that one in Las Vegas sold for. :)

Jon.
