Lozz196
I saw a very funny spoof of this - Holdin by The Ears. Was only beat by Bunnys Too Tight To Mention.
Roland Rock
I remember it (I was 9) but not particurlarly special to me. Just looked it up, and apparently it was initially released in 1984 and reached no51 in the UK, then when it was rereleased in 1985 it went to no2 in the UK and no1 in the states. Happy Jack
It worked better at no.51.
ahpook
Archetypal bit of 80s there, especially the video... Look at him, sitting on the bed, fingering his shillelagh. Edited September 30, 2015 by ahpook
redbandit599
I thought it was going to be Angel of Death by Slayer - still different strokes 'n all that
Guest Jecklin
Used to good effect in an only fools and horses episode. I was just a bit too young to be aware of it from radio play but del boy introduced me to it a few years later. Only simply red material I can handle. KevB
That's Whitby in the video. Possibly the best bit about it, other than a fleeting glimpse of the delightful Maggie O'Neill.
Slipperydick
One of the reasons I lost interest in music I didnt even pick up a Bass between 1979 and 1991. So o o glad I didnt have to grow up in the 80s.
Skol303
Aaargh, noooooo Sorry 'Bubs. I agree with 99.99% of your taste in good music... this being the 0.01% It's just one of those tracks that causes me to have a reaction akin to sucking lemons. Probably because it's the antithesis of what the 80s were about for me. But to each their own!

timmo
Not a lot of love for this song by the look of it. I hate it as well.
Skybone
My wife wanted one of those 80's compilation CD's for Christmas one year. When she opened it, she was very happy, but was informed that she was unable to play it in my presence EVER. I hated 80's pop music, thank goodness there were plenty of other genre's that were producing great music & thank goodness for John Peel & Tommy Vance!
tauzero
One of the bands I love to hate, and a significant contributory factor in me stopping listening to music in about 1985.
Acebassmusic
Well bubinga I guess its just you and me (and several million others ) who think its a great song . There's also quite a few cracking bass lines in the bands back catalogue that are great to work out and play along to.

Dad3353
Maybe I struck lucky, I don't know, but my '80s were filled with stuff like this ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6If65D_DXS4 May not be to everyone's taste, of course, and it's odd, as I do like soup in a plate, but not in my ears. Happy Jack
Well it's a bit rich to claim that album for the 80s. In that case, can I have Abbey Road?
KevB
Spent a lot of the eighties catching up with stuff I still hadn't heard that was recorded in the 70's or with stuff recorded in the 80's by artists who were probably at the peak of their careers in the 70's.
