darkandrew
http://youtube.com/watch?v=nXzpC5cYXbI Found this on YouTube last night, never seen it before. As well as Midge Ure on guitar, Mark Brzezicki and Phill Collins on drums, I thought you might recognise the guy playing the Wal bass. Quite a house band. Dad3353
'Fraid not. I think I recognise several in the audience, though (we see more of them than the bassist in the video...). Maybe I blinked when he was in shot..? Note to self: Must clean my spectacles more often. Good concert, all the same.
Dood
If you look for the Prince's Trust Concert 1988 on YouTube you will find the same house band performing with a whole host of artists!
Dood
Oh! here's a version! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JE01-K5MKWk My favourite track in the concert has to be Joe Cocker performing 'The Letter' with Brian May on guitar... oh and one John Deacon on bass.. Mick's bass it seems!
gjones
Why, oh why, did the mullet ever go out of fashion? I think it's a great look.
Dood
Actually, I'd lie to update my last reply - it's was actually Colin Vearncombe performing Wonderful Life...

visog
It's the incredible Mick Karn. Quite a line-up! As stated above, a similar line-up did a great job of a great Kate Bush song with Pete Townsend instead of MU: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJvXpvH2-Hk This utilises MK's talents much more... RIP Mick.
darkandrew
It's strange, I'd never thought of Mick Karn as a "standards" player. I don't mean that in a derogatory way, quite the opposite in fact, I'd just always thought his playing was too stylised and too individual to fit into a "house band". A man of great talent. KevB
Was hoping it might be Bilbo tbh... Don't really like that arrangement, if there was a song that absolutely does not need horns it's that one. darkandrew
I agree on the horns but I suppose it would be rude to invite UB40's horn section and not let them play.

skychaserhigh
Nice to see the audience clapping and singing along though instead of holding bloody phones up in the air.
Toddy
Ha, crikey, now here is a thing, was quite a crush in that crowd, was the mandela concert, was three rows from the front when this happened, great memory, thanks for posting.
