Stylon Pilson Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015
Surely that depends on repertoire, no..? I'd offer as example most of the early Roger Waters stuff; speed was seldom of the essence, I'd suggest. I'd agree for that there flashy stuff, but there's more to bass playing in the real world than that, I hope..?
Okay, yes. I suppose what I was trying to say was that you need to have sufficient physical practice to give you the necessary context to make the imagined practice effective. For example, I've never flown a space shuttle. If I were to visualise flying a space shuttle, then while I could have a successful mission in my mind, I'd be scuppered once I got into a real shuttle because all the controls would be different. Likewise, you could visualise playing your bass and get everything perfect, but then pick up a real instrument and discover that you just don't have the physical strength/speed/endurance to execute the moves that you were performing oh-so-effortlessly in your head. S.P. Quote
bonzodog Posted October 2, 2015 Author Posted October 2, 2015 Yes I don't think I meant purely practising in bed and never pick up a bass. I was just saying as I am so busy this helped me a lot when a bass wasn't to hand. I am well aware there are other G strings I should be messing around with in bed Quote
LayDownThaFunk Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Don't forget to put your boxing gloves on for a decent night's kip. Quote
inthedoghouse Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 When I'm learning a song or refreshing my memory for an older one I often visualise myself playing it, seeing and feeling where the notes are etc. Sometimes it's as useful when learning a song as actually playing. But that's just me ... :-) Quote
Marvin Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 I tend to rehearse with the rest of the band...I don't think they'd fit in the bedroom Quote

In case you didn't notice, there was a prerequisite to joining the Corrs ie you had to be a member of the family. Quote

What a nightmare! Why couldn't it have been his wife? Quote
