Pinball Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015
It's dreadful. But so is everything before and after it...
This is why punk happened! Quote

Delberthot Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I honestly thought I was watching one of these videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOF1FJ7wGhw Bass player at the wrong gig? - more like musician on the wrong instrument - sounded like Sound Control in the early 90s on a Saturday morning Quote
Lynottfan Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 The whole thing was an abortion frankly, Guthrie has to be the most amazing but boring guitar player going (very nice bloke, met him at Guitar Guitar and has monster chops, but man he bores flat in 2 minutes) As for the bass solo, wow, nice Bass Guitar, but what was he thinking?? It did however make me laugh at it, so in a way it conveyed some form of emotion like music should Quote
leschirons Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Appearances like that, and clinics, probably pay GG's mortgage. Whether he actually wanted to be up there with that bunch is another matter I'm sure he cringes every time he gets reminded of it. Quote
ribbetingfrog Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 GG did seem to recoil in horror at 2:11, looking round the stage to see if anyone was watching, then stepping backwards in an attempt to hide behind the amps. Quote
Painy Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Personally I really liked the way that he managed to avoid choosing any notes whatsoever that fit in with the song in any way shape or form whilst simultaneously keeping each and every note played completely out of time as well. As if that wasn't enough he then managed to maintain all that whilst playing whole sections where his left hand and right hand weren't even sycronised with each other. Surely it takes some special kind of talent to play soooo many notes and to still not to play a single right one even by mistake! Quite simply... Genius! Quote

SICbass Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I kept hoping (for his sake) that this was one of those shreds where someones dubbed cackhanded playing over the original audio.... ..., but noooooooo 👎 Quote
ribbetingfrog Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 At least he has been responsible for a most entertaining thread 😆 Quote

Hobbayne Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 He ripped that solo off of me! Thats exactly the same solo I got when I chucked my bass down the stairs! Quote
jezzaboy Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 At last! Someone who is worse than me at playing the bass. That was cringeworthy. Quote
tauzero Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 I thought the phrase "not even wrong" couldn't be applied to music, until now. Quote
vmaxblues Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 awful, just awful...... play for the song I always think, that bore no relation to the song or the vibe at all, just lots of show off techniques that lack any musicality IMHO Quote
Marvin Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 I thought it a little embarrassing. I can only imagine the fellow thought he had to pull out all the stops, given wots his name was on stage, and unfortunately it went...well, not well. Quote
TrevorR Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Thing is, in my own mind when I imagine myself doing a bass solo that is exactly what it ends up sounding like. Which I guess is nature's way of telling me never to do a bass solo... Quote
