spyder
I agree 👍. I have Chromes on my jazz. Gives a mellow sound to counter the bright single coil pickups.
Naetharu
Aye, flats are wonderful sounding - kind of smoother yet punchy at the same time. I'm actually using La-Bella black nylon flats now and they're a dream. Given I play in a prog/metal band perhaps not the obvious choice but they just cut through the mix wonderfully and the tone really compliments the harsher sounds of the driven guitars. bootleg
Have flats on 3 of my 6 basses. Wondering about my 6 string.
alyctes
I put nylon LaBellas on my no-name jazz copy a couple of weeks ago, and had to take them off, because they take all the snarl out of it. I like the lack of finger noise, but there seems little point if it doesn't make a noise I like. Flats on a P-type, yes I think I need to try some half-rounds, see i I can keep the snarl but reduce the finger noise.
EssentialTension
The Fender Jazz bass was designed when all bass strings were flat so not too surprising that it might sound OK with them.
