Hi,
I am thinking of acquiring a Music Man Stingray 1999
I would like to ask your opinion as to wood tone variation in this neck.
I've never seen one like that.
My best regards
Hélder Luís

Nothing to worry about. The unfinished necks always change colour over time due to oils in the skin, dirt etc.

I've had several Ray's that have done this. And there's nearly always a couple of tide marks, especially just below the headstock :)

Yes I had a Ray which had a "tide mark" just below the headstock too
Didn't affect the bass in any way, and on close inspection with a magnifying glass,
there was nothing underlying or structural about it
Never understood why it was there though....

Hi, Thank you for your help, from the first look at it, it looked to me as if the neck had been refinished in diferent sections

Thank you, fellows, for your help,
I feared that the change of color could be due to something serious had happened to the neck.
So it's merely aesthetic ;)
