Happy Jack
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-1973-Precision-Bass-Sunburst-with-case-/131598183095?hash=item1ea3dceab7 I'm not good at this spot-the-fake-Fender lark, but that decal looks nothing like the (genuine) one on my '75/'76 Precision, plus the decal looks utterly crap anyway. discreet
That is not a 70s P-Bass decal. The one in the pic looks hand-drawn to me. Edited October 6, 2015 by discreet
Bassassin
That is not a 70s P-Bass decal. The one in the pic looks hand-drawn to me.
Agreed. It's a not-too-bad attempt at an early/mid 60s logo. I'm definitely no expert, but the rest looks pretty convincing. Wonder what went on here? Jon. Roger2611
I don't think I would want to risk £1500 on that one, I am not sure about the body finish either there looks to be too much Black in the burst finish but that may be an illusion with the clearly wrong pick guard
tauzero
The pickup cover is nicely wonky. Sadly, all the photos are taken at an angle which precludes checking the neck pocket to see if it has an authentic Fender gape.
3below
Neck pocket (and other routing in body) looks 'rough' / 'torn out'. My Fender experience from that era did not encounter routing that 'rough'. This is only a limited experience though.
cameltoe
That decal looks hand drawn.
Bassassin
I think it is. I think it dates from long before the days of replica logos & Ebay - which might help explain a schoolboy error like putting an early 60s logo on a (purportedly) mid 70s bass. Probably the best - or only - example the artist could find to copy. J.
