NickD Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016
You have a point! For me, the best part of the show are the masterclasses, immediately followed by the performances (on stage or at the booths), then the actual stands and, especially, the people working on them. So it's a whole-day activity because there's always something happening somewhere that you want to be part of.
It's the masterclasses and shows that really make it for me too, and that's what takes up most of my day. Browsing and shopping I can do elsewhere so I concentrate on the things you can't see in most bass stores. Quote
NickD Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016
I'm not going to try that either. I fully intend to outdo the last year, photo-wise.
Me too! Quote
TheGreek Posted January 28, 2016 Author Posted January 28, 2016 I enjoy the masterclasses and seminars too but probably spend as much time chatting to other BCers. Wouldn't want to try to get round in 3 hours personally.. Quote
keefbaker Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Yeah, bad timing. I'd love to do the whole day but the Sunday is totally out and I can only make the Saturday morning. Priority 1 is trying stuff and possibly (very likely) buying but I'm going to try and make a master class or performance. Quote
4StringPete Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Made my first trip down last year, had a blast. Got my tickets and flighrts for this year, looking forward to it! Quote
Silvia Bluejay Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 They've just announced Suzi Quatro for a masterclass and a performance at the show.
We’re thrilled to announce that the great Suzi Quatro, the genius behind the bass on 55 million album sales and counting, will perform at the 2016 show. She will hold a masterclass on Saturday and perform on the main stage on Sunday.
Quote
seashell Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Suzi Quatro! Wow! Better wear my leather trousers :-) :-) Quote
Thomas68 Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Can anybody help me: I came from Germany to visit the show. Is it possible to buy a new Bass directly by the exhibitors? Quote
Silvia Bluejay Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 (edited) As far as I know, yes, and I also think you can place an order with an exhibiting luthier at the show, if you want a custom build, but since I have never done either thing, I will wait to hear confirmation from other BCers. Oh, and welcome to the forum, Thomas! Edited January 30, 2016 by bluejay Quote

MoJoKe Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) Just found out I will be able to be there after all... thought a gig would prevent it, so I'll be there as usual, if you have time come and seek me out on the MSL/MarkBass stand, it'd be good to put more names to faces. Hoping to have some interesting new toys available, and I know there are some interesting show deals on the way...! Edited February 2, 2016 by MoJoKe Quote
timmo Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I would usually go on a Saturday, but can`t this year. I usually leave the wife in London . Any idea what time most of the shops close on the main drag on a Sunday please? Quote
Silvia Bluejay Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Shops in the West End usually close at 6pm on Sundays, but there are some variations. I believe they are still only allowed to open for 6 hours on Sundays? So if they open at 11am they may close at 5pm instead. (Happy to be corrected, if wrong, by anyone who may be a frequest shopper there, which I'm not.) In other news, the issue of BGM out this coming Tuesday is almost entirely dedicated to the LBGS! disgrace of bass Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Well thats my ticket booked for Saturday - only 2 live stage events though - there is going to be serious jostling for tickets! Quote
Merton Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Still aiming to be there on Saturday, looking forward to catching up with a lot of faces Quote
Happy Jack Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016
Going to be a bit of a walk for me this year.
Have you considered starting with a single step? Quote

TheGreek Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 I don't understand why Pino or Stuart Zenden aren't booked every year - they're both local.. Quote
