EliasMooseblaster Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Buggers. This will be the second - possibly third - year that I'll be unable to go due to gig commitments. It's starting to make me wonder if the reason we get booked at that time of year is because every other band is out of action due to the absence of their bassist! Quote
iamtheelvy Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I'm making zero assumptions, but on checking out gigs I noticed that Bruce Foxton and JJ Burnell are in town that weekend with their respective bands... Quote
Bobthedog Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I get back from holiday late on the Friday night but have already bought my weekend ticket. I will be tired and jet lagged but don't want to miss this! Quote
Bassman Sam Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I'm out. I have just been given notice that I may be made redundant in 30 days time. I need to save the pennies now. Quote
Kiwi Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016
So we have three AWESOME announcements to make in three days - this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Unfortunately, it won't be me owing to yet another geographic displacement. Maybe next year...maybe not. Quote
NickD Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Huzzah for Mr Swift... adequate compensation for Peter Hook! Quote
keefbaker Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Funnily enough that's around the time I'm thinking of buying my next bass. Quote
Sibob Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I'm still hoping for some Jaco Film content this year! Perhaps getting Felix P over for some performance/masterclass (even without any Jaco Film content this would be a good idea!) Fingers crossed Si Quote
keefbaker Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 In the meantime this is out in a week and a bit http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jaco-Pastorius-DVD/dp/B015NLH4EA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452268150&sr=8-1&keywords=jaco Quote

keefbaker Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I'm tempted for that reason alone if I'm honest. I've never been to one of these. Quote
deepbass5 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Oh Bum, why can't we have Dave Swift Sunday as well ? He is more relevant to what most of us do each week than all the others put together Quote

skelf Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 You could always come up to Moffat he will be there the following Sunday. Quote
deepbass5 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Moffat ! Moffat ! where the Muff is Moffat - I get a nose bleed If I go any further north than the Watford Gap Quote
skelf Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Looks like it will be a full body haemorrhage then. Quote
deepbass5 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I guess I would need my wellies at the moment, Hope you BC'ers up there are all surviving this weather without too much grief, A lovely part of the world(on a nice day) been fishing up there many years ago without ill affect, But every time we have tried in the last few years there have been floods and landslides and had to turn back, even worse this year by the look. Must be a drought on the way Quote
skelf Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 A drought in my part of the world would be if it did not rain at some point during the day. Quote
deepbass5 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I was discussing with an Irish Landlord of a local pub about going to visit the west coast of Ireland, but needed to know the best time of year to visit. He said it only rains twice a week - once for three days and then once for four days. Quote
skelf Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I know the feeling. Been particularly bad this month, I am fortunate in that I live at the top of a hill so the water is passing by, the snow is a bit more of a problem. Quote
Silvia Bluejay Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 So far the following guests have been announced for stage performances and masterclasses (in no particular order): Dave Swift Peter Hook Rhino of Status Quo Michael Manring Neil Fairclough And... see the new issue of BGM for the latest addition! (The name hasn't been posted on FB or Twitter yet, so I won't spoil the surprise.) \m/ \m/ Quote

They have a review of our CHB-1 bass in there and it's a very good one! Edited January 9, 2016 by Chownybass Quote
interpol52 Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016
Robert Trujillo!
I'm definitely going now! I used to love Suicidal Tendancies and Infectious Grooves. I loved Metallica too but mostly the first 4 albums. Really looking forward to it now. Quote
