We've got your NYXL bass string on our Chowny NT-J prototype that we will have at the show too - if that's of interest. :)

It's shaping up to be an exciting weekend, I'll have to pop by the Chowny booth and have a noodle. I look forward to seeing you all there, just keep an eye out for the man with a huge beard wearing a D'Addario T-Shirt!

In case people didn't know, he's a Watford lad (or around that area anyway) and Slipknot are one of the biggest (American) metal bands in the world :)

He's also the guitar/amp tech at Titan Studios Watford too I think. Pretty sure he serviced my amp.

Did anyone else read these two posts and think ... WTF?

The bass player for "one of the biggest metal bands in the world" is also "the guitar/amp tech" at a shop in Watford?

This is the same studio where Robert Trujillo is a shop assistant, right?

It suprised me.

Not being particularly familiar with Slipknot I didn't realise at the time. When I first inquired the guy asked if it was an urgent job as his tech was on tour for a couple of weeks with his band... never realised it was with a big band.

Yeah, Michael League, Pino, Richard Bona, Esperanza Spalding, Bobby Vega. Lots of amazing players to work through, lets hope the show continues for many years to fit them all in :)

Yeah, I thought Michael League would be realistic as he will be actually touring the UK at the time and having the weekend off ;)

BTW, I'm going to his (well, Bill Laurance's) gig at Ronnie's on Monday after LBGS, anyone else?

Is he a guitar tech?
[/quote]

Yup... For some big acts too.

looks like you're right - it was clearly stated that he was when I was buying my tickets (few months ago, admittedly) and I new saw it explicitly denied otherwise, but pics from Bill's last night gig show another bassist. Not a complaint, I'm still a big fan of Bill's music. Sorry for derailing the thread then!

Will book my Saturday ticket later tonight. I'll only be popping in for a couple of hours as I'll have my son with me and he wants to go drum shopping.... I've almost taught him well ;)
