Been asking myself the same question - I've tried a few, haven't been happy with any of them - as usual with BC, no sort of consensus..

Awesome pedals - tried one at the LBGS and was very impressed.

Some of my favourites...

BBE optostomp.. cheap and works.
EBS.. easy to use and warm sound.
TRACE ELLIOT.. classic 80s sound.
KEELEY BASSIST.. my favourite to date.
CALI.. full control of all settings.

Save up a bit more and get a Diamond BCP1.
It's not a 'utility' compressor as such, but just makes you sound great. It's lush.
