SH73
I am replacing the pups on my Matt Freeman bass with Seymour Duncan SPB-4 pups . I`ve been looking at CTS pots on Thomanm site for better quality pots. There are three different CTS 250 k pots. Confused which one to get. Can anyone please assist? Muppet
No knowing which ones you are specifically looking at, I can only assume the variations are either due to them being linear v audio taper or different shaft types (solid, threaded, split) Assuming the knobs are standard Precision bass ones I'd use these ones assuming these aren't fitted as standard to begin with http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_250k_controlsolid_shaft.htm
SH73
I need a split shaft https://m.thomann.de/gb/fender_poti_250.htm?o=0&ref=mal_a_0&search=1444724652 Or this https://m.thomann.de/gb/fender_volumepoti_250_no_load.htm?o=3&ref=mmc_a_3&search=1444724756 Getting them for SPB-4 sd pups. I presume I need tge first version for volume and tone
Muppet
I would go the first one for both tone and volume if you're using push on knobs. The second one is often fitted to Strats IIRC as a tone knob. It has a slight notch at the end of its turn to bypass the tone circuit. I don't know of it being fitted to basses but it may well have been.
