Wonky2 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Apologies if you have all already seen this....... Just outstanding .... http://youtu.be/m5IjIqthPzE Wonky Quote
Phil Adams Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Superb, that's me chilled for the day. Thanks. Quote
visog Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 The drummer (boxist?) help coax it from a bass noodle to a tune. As does the great arrangements. Nice chord progression... Good spot! Also I'd love a J with an action like that! Quote
scrumpymike Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Excuse me while I go and throw myself off a tall building... but, wait! If I did that, I wouldn't be able to play this again. Quote
PauBass Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) Fernando is a top bass player and composer, very tasteful playing. Check his other work, worth a listen too! Edited October 14, 2015 by PauBass Quote

Muzz Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Would have sounded the same played on a guitar, with a similar tone. Pleasant noodling, but ultimately pointless on a bass. Quote

Musical tastes vary hugely of course but if you can't see or appreciate on some level what's happening here theres something wrong.... To suggest it's pointless is just silly. Quote
mingsta Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Lovely playing, but I think I would gave enjoyed it more without the video. If you ever wanted to see four men having sex with each other musically, this is it. Quote
leschirons Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Personally, I loved it. Thanks for posting. Quote
EliasMooseblaster Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Very soothing - thanks for sharing that one! Quote
Linus27 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Really enjoyed that and I loved how it effortlessly blended into new directions by just changing something simple. I also found it interesting how the bass took the role and tone of a guitar and for me it worked. I agree that it could had been played on a guitar but I think some of the tone and personally would had been lost. What I would had liked would be some soft keys. Either way, totally loved it. Quote
JapanAxe Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Lovely piece. Perfect chill-out before bedtime. Quote

Conan Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Meh... it's pleasant and relaxing yes (although there are times when it feels like the percussion and bass are playing different tunes), but it's all been done before really hasn't it? Not that I could do it of course Nice tone though, I agree Quote

ratman Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Normally I don't go for this sort of thing, but that was lovely. Beautifully played by all of the band. Quote
Linus27 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I can't think of anything original these days, its all been done before. Its how you present it and the different use of tone that makes it different. Quote
MoonBassAlpha Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 It wouldn't have sounded the same played on guitar, the envelope of the notes is just different. I thought it was pleasant great tone, a nice chilled start to the morning. Quote
planer Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Very nice. I didn't watch the vid, just played the audio in the background. Quote
Muzz Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015
I have to agree. It is pleasant. However, if it was played on a guitar or piano it would just be boring,
That's it: it's interesting to us (to a point) because it's played on a bass, and this is a bassist's forum, but to 99% of listeners it doesn't matter. If the video would have been a guitarist playing the same thing, I'm sure the response would've been a lot more 'meh'. From the point of view of the piece as music, the bass as the lead instrument is the pointless bit. The tone is pretty 'bedroom noodle' for me, too. Quote
