stevebasshead
I've got one almost identical to that (from a 2nd hand shop) Love it even though it is a bit cheesy but mine and from what I can see this one too is a little lacking in depth for wine bottles. But as a beer rack it's spot on!
Now if you can get one that plays and then does that in the break (preferably drum break) you're onto a winner. jacko
Storing wine on it's side was purely to stop the cork drying out and letting air in. Most decent wines use a screwcap now so it isn't that important which way the bottle is stored.

If it leaks the wine will be "corked" anyway, and it avoids finding out when you already have a mouthful of it
jacko
I don't keep my wine long enough for it to matter
This very much depends. I buy a range of wines from most prices & would agree that cork doesn't necessarily mean quality, but I wouldn't say "most" decent wines use screw caps - it seems almost random by brand to me. I know some that I like to buy come with corks & I wouldn't chose to store them upright. Then again it's not really a problem for me as I don't have anywhere near enough space in my house to use a double bass (or is that chello sized?) to store wine! Edited October 16, 2015 by Lw.
