discreet
A very novel way of sorting buzz on the 'A' string... I wouldn't, though.
JTUK
So so wrong, IMO
stevebasshead
Eh? What's holding the A string in place? The tension should have it popped out from under the tree...
There's a string groove under some trees. Actually two, one each side. Edited October 15, 2015 by discreet

darren
I thought he'd / she'd wrapped it around once, clockwise.
stevebasshead

Cheers! Must look tonight at the one on my HB deko jazz (it's the only bass I own with a round string tree.)
Paul S
String break on Fender headstock A string is not good and they can pop out of the nut. Happened to me with a bass some while back and, taking advice from here, it is easily cured by winding the string right the way down the shaft. Seems rather clumsy to do what he has done when all you need to do it unwind then rewind the string. Norris
That looks like a P-Bass Special, in which case it's fabulous value for money (depending how much they are asking for it of course). I dropped a SDQP PJ set in mine and it's a cracking bass
spectoremg
Can't see a string groove holding at that tension. As previously suggested it looks like it's been wrapped around.

yorks5stringer
Must be a bit congested under the right hand groove.....?
DavidMcKay
Surely this affects tuning?....
