Good afternoon all,

I'm currently placing my 5 string Yamaha RBX 775 up for sale for £160 (Now dropped). Collection from Luton area.
The bass is in a metallic silver colour and has a glossy black finish to the back of neck.

The neck is made from Maple and the fingerboard itself is made from rosewood, the main body is constructed from Solid Alder.
The neck is 35" in length and features a complete 2 octave, 24 fretboard.
The bass features active electronics: two humbucker pickups, master tone, master volume, 3 position blend and a booster flick switch.
All hardware is finished in black and stock, except the addition of some straplock attachment posts at both upper horn and base.
Manufactures Spec: http://usa.yamaha.co...ver/?mode=model

The bass is fully operational (stretch at a star wars pun intended); however, it probably requires fresh strings and a tweak to the neck action/ bridge set-up to remove some slight fret buzz. With regards to condition, it is not perfect but given its age, the bass is in very good condition, as a bedroom player I have not taken it into live action and I believe the past users also took good care of it, as it only has two small signs of scratches on the rear of bass body, undetectable when in use. The back of the neck is in perfect condition with no chips etc. I would say the bass is built like a tank, I bought the bass on the basis that I had owned a 4 string "entry level" Yamaha bass for over ten years without any issue, I also had purchased it from another basschatter :)

I've tried to capture all the key parts and identify the two scratches on the rear but if you would like to see further please feel free to email.

I was also contemplating providing sound clips, but I have no recording devices, and well as much as I would like to be, I'm not the greatest of players and couldn't do it. BUT, I have often watched several videos on youtube featuring this bass and these particular chaps (see below) who have enough chops such that you can understand how clean the bass tone is:

Megadeth Medley: https://www.youtube....h?v=uBN77PN-W_o (Credit to Tony Dickinson)
Funk/slap Jam: https://www.youtube....h?v=aNoln_Hu8vk (Credit to Elson Hevert)

The tone i'd describe is very bright and crunchy, and would be very well suited for genres like prog rock and thrash metal. If you were considering this as a first bass, i'd be honest to the customer, and would say it would require some additional EQ assistance to get a really warm sound like Jack Bruce, (I know fretless vs fretted are totally different beasts); however if you are looking for a tone that cuts throw the mix, you can't go wrong with this particular bass.

I bought this second hand and unfortunately do not have any original manuals/ packaging.
I am currently only considering local pickup at the minute, I'd be happy to provide test sessions if arranged suitably prior.
This sale does not include sale of a strap, i may happen to chuck a strap in your direction for free but it is worn and could come lose and only suitable for temporary usage, i.e. i accept no responsibility for malfunctioning of strap and subsequent damage.

I am selling as i don't find myself playing metal much nowadays and hence don't need the 5-string. My beloved 4 string does 99% of what i want to play.

Thanks,
Owen

Hi Machines, these things sure are built incredibly sturdy. I'm guessing by your signature that trying to make a sale for a 6th bass may be a hard task haha, joking aside thanks for your words :)

Yep sorry, I like many instruments but they all have to be different.
