thedontcarebear
I've not really posted much here for years, but anyway, thought this might be of interest to some, just back from holiday in the US and while there I went for a tour of the Fender Factory in Corona. Some pictures (from my phone sorry, didn't take a proper camera) below, as its kinda interesting. Strangely, you cannot buy anything from them unless you have an American address, they do this build series thing where you can basically get an instrument built, but only if you are in America - they only just stopped this being available to anyone who lived anywhere, and had cheap shipping even, but alas its no more - saw a couple of the instruments from that on the line though (picture below). The photo order is backwards, sorry, took ages to paste the links! Not sure how to use the media on this site anymore!! Bookends I got from the shop, they are actually made in Mexico though! This is the custom shop!! Setup etc These are those American build ones I mentioned, have custom neck plates. Just hanging... Heading into that bit from before Like a few shots ago Sanding and buffing etc. More hanging Nice tele Finished bodies New bodies Pablo did this, this is from where they sand them Thousands of pounds worth of necks! Putting frets on Cutting bodies Blanks etc Wall of necks Neck blanks Jigs or something This was interesting, them stamping out hardware! The showroom - you'd think they'd have great basses and guitars here, setup really well, but no, they all played like sh*te! Guest
Oh and in the custom shop I felt this really light weight strat, it was crazy light, not sure if its out now or a future model! Also, the mexico factory isn't far from here, and they cannot make hardware (like pictured above), but apart from that have the same kind of machines apparently, and actually, everyone in Corona seemed Mexican anyway, haha. Oh and this is the name for that American build thing I couldn't remember properly... geofio
This Fender mexican thing is all misunderstood, all the parts are shipped from usa to mexico and put together by mexicans and as you can see a large part of the staff in the usa factory are mexicans lol. yorks5stringer
Tres Interesting. It amused me to see Pablo Picasso is not dead , but working for Fender and those bookends..one called Simon, the other Garfunkel? Oh, and for the OP, do you ever go to Tadkebab? Guest
I have been to Tadkebab once! When we moved here, it was closed for refurb, so as soon as it opened, we gave it a try! It was okay, the name is better than the food!!
yorks5stringer
In know/knew some Tad lads and Tadkebab passed into folklore.
Guest
It's pretty nice around here, better location than Harrogate where I lived before - actually some things nearby!
Guest
Oh and I just remembered on this tour, I saw they use TC Electronic Polytone tuners, they have them mounted in that setup area in the picture!
