For your information, the GWB35 is an ACTIVE bass with a bass/treble boost/cut.
In the video below I play a GWB35 in an exreme metal setting. While neither the song nor my playing is particularly good, it does take a bass just like what you want to get out from under the walls of guitars.
I have nothing to sell, but I think that the GWB is a great moderns sounding fretless.

Total tangent, but this your playing/band? As I thought this was pretty cool with some really nice bits on the bass!

I really love the Gary Willis basses, really bums me out, that I just don't get on with 5 strings.

If you'd have ordered that ACG when you started thinking about all this it would be nearly ready by now... :)

I know I know!!! Aaarrrgghhhh......

You could pop this into any bass and see if the ACG filter pre might be for you? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/271257-acg-dual-pickup-filter-pre-amp/page__p__2886357
That's the simpler SEQ version, but its still very flexible and would give you a taster of how the full thing works...

What you want is a Daion Power X-B.
Lined neck, really slim (and asymmetric) and active.

Sadly, I think there's only one in the country and it's mine!

Mwahaahaaa :P

Yes, this is used to be my band and it is my playing with an Ibanez GWB35.
Glad that you like it, thanks!

This is a very good suggestion, I have one of these on an ACG and they are very easy to get you head around quickly. Also worth noting If you want to try a bunch of ACGs then the Moffat bass bash is on 19-20 March

I'll check a MM but the necks are quite thick.

I want the thinest neck possible, narrow string spacing, only a custom builder can really do want I want I'm a picky git!!

Fender MIM fretless jazz? It's passive, but: thin neck, narrow string spacing. About $550 over here.

I have a fretless Status S2000 5 string - it's active and has a lined fretboard. It cost me under a grand.

It's from 1989 so has a bit of playing wear, which is fair enough as it does get gigged and so can take the odd knock without me freaking out.

Bought it from the Basschat classified section. :)

Have you looked at Cort, Schecter, Spector, Yamaha, Ibanez, ESP (LTD), Aria Pro and Warwick for their mid priced fretless basses?

Excellent. . Hope it's the one! I've got different fretlesses for different purposes. My longest standing one doesn't even have (or need) a tone control.
Also a different set of strings can radically alter the whole tone and response, so buckle up and enjoy the trip!

I'm really pleased with my Spector Spectorcore 5 string fretless. The EMG pickup is passive and then there's an active Fishman piezo bridge pickup. However it all works through the active eq. Normally about £800 bit shop around, I picked one up new from a store in Italy for under £500 delivered.

I got this eventually, its just amazing... so much scope to sound, it can get very weird with the 2 piezo's haven't really got to grips with it yet!!

Beautifully made a dream bass
