Odd fender USA 78 serial number but made in Indonesia

Found this interesting bass on gum tree. At first I thought I'd stumbled on an underpriced 78 USA but on request from seller for more pictures it was obviously made in Indonesia

[Beer of the Bass]

It's a Squier with a dodgy decal on the front of the headstock. The 70's decal and serial number don't match anything else on the bass.
