ubit
I'm the exact opposite. I'm much more interested in the lyrics than the bass line (unless it is something with meaningless lyrics such as most RHCP songs.) This is possibly why Billy Bragg is my all-time favourite performer.
And possibly why he's just about my least favourite, along with Rod Stewart, Dire Straights, the Doors ......... ziggybass
There are some songs that, if you listen to the lyrics, really shouldn't be played pre-watershed. A good example is Unbelievable by EMF - saying F*** Yellow Mellow by Donovan - widely considered to be advocating underage sex. Any others?
Well as I knew the guy I can tell you yellow mellow was a substance (and could also be chics or?) But yeh I get uncumfortable with some lyrics when with my kids, even though they are now adults. And why the hell do we know not bother when their are so many F's N's and I hear a C in one song as despite my age my bassist ears are real sensitive! How we fall so far? It wasn't me!
