ashevans09
Since there are a couple of threads relating to crappy bass shops, I thought it might be worth making a thread filled with good, basschat approved shops , maybe with a rating system out of 10 for service, staff knowledge, stock etc...thoughts? Anyhoo, thought I'd start it off with Oxford's PMT - very friendly and helpful staff and if they don't know something or have it in stock they'll look it up or find a way they can get it in for you Me likey EDIT - Seems this has been done much better in this thread http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=2680 . Who knew eh Edited September 9, 2008 by ashevans09

Stylon Pilson
I've been chuffed to bits with Anderton's in Guildford, and Guitar Works in Reading. Both offer magnificent service and I would recommend them without reservations. S.P.

Alastair
GuitarGuitar in Glasgow (down by the tron) Very friendly staff, always seem keen to have a chat and let you noodle on a bass or guitar - amazing stock, everything from ricks to sadowskis to MMs and fenders. Merchant City Music in Glasgow See above regarding staff, the stock is a lot smaller and less varied but still good. Small shop, but deffo worth a visit. I only went in cause the bass was used, so I wanted to see it first, luckily it was in great condition.
MuseMatt
As said before: (in the Netherlands) Paul's Bass Matters He has some nice basses and he can order most basses too. Some nice second hand ones usually, oldies too. Great service, but not the cheapest out there. Still fair prices though.

doctor_of_the_bass
Favouroonie places: 1. The Bass Merchant 2. The Gallery 3. Electromusic (Doncaster) 4. Norfolk Guitar & Bass Centre (Watton, nr Swaffham) 5. TMC in Coventry (Binley Rd) One of my all-time faves was of course, the Embassy in Mansfield - spent shedloads of dosh there! And of course, the Bass Centre when it was in Wapping, and their sister shop in Birmingham was superb back in the old days; Exchanges in Birmingham was incredible 20 years ago! 4000
The Gallery is my fave; Martin & the boys are absolute stars. Can't praise them enough. Overwater has always been great too, lovely chaps. First time I went up there I had a wonderful (and expensive!) day; I've got all the time in the world for Chris & co. I used to really like the Bass Centre when it was in Wapping, and the Brum version was great too. Enjoyed the Manc version when Napper was there; he's a good lad. Also the old A1 Music when Nigel and Drew were there; Nigel's a top bloke, and it was nice to see him at Bass Day a couple of years back. They had a small but interesting selection of basses, including Overwater, a couple of Parkers, some MusicMan etc etc. The guy who owns the store is a bassist, his name is Tim Gyton; he and his wife run the shop - nice guys! I ended up buying a vintage Aria Precise bass! Their address is: 2-3 The Courtyard Breckland Business Park Watton Norfolk IP25 6UP website: http://www.ngbc.co.uk Tell him that Nick Smith sent you - (the guy with too many basses!) doctor_of_the_bass
..I've only got two and the third one is in bits! One is at John's being refurbed, the other is sat in my secret secure location!
