Nicko Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Did anyone see this. I though the songs were absolute pish, but that bass player was playing some lovely lines. It reminded me a bit of the Blockheads bass. Apparently the bass on the record was by Yaron Stavi. I've never hear of him before and don't know if it was him on the prog. Anyone else catch this? Cosmo Valdemar Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 If it was his recent appearance I'm pretty sure it was Guy Pratt... Quote

He had a really good sund and the lines played were very Norman Watt Roy. I thought it was excellent. Quote
ezbass Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Yes, it is the marvellous Guy Pratt, playing 'Betsy'. @1:50 http://youtu.be/DCR6R4Hpb-0 Quote
blamelouis Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Is that the jazz bass Gilmour gave him on his wedding day ? Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Gilmour gave him the sunburst stack-knob. Betsy used to belong to John Entwistle and now wears EMGs. Quote
rogerstodge Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 I'm sure I see Mr Pratt stand in for Norman Watt-Roy, maybe his playing has rubbed off on him? Quote

Funky Dunky Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Guy is a monster player, absolutely tremendous bassist. Played on Madge's 'Like A Prayer'. Listen to the bass on that song - it's quite superb. Quote
spectoremg Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Like A Prayer sounds like a synth bass? Quote
Funky Dunky Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Patrick Leonard, who produced the track, said in a Billboard interview that Guy Pratt was the bassist. Quote
ezbass Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 There is quite a long section in GP's book that talks about the session. He is using an octaver and channeling Pino, especially in the outro. Quote
