visog Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 ...early teens bass players have more chops than you've ever had... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3w0JZpaHDz4 Tone's a bit middley though... Quote
EssentialTension Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Good luck to the kid but I was bored as soon as I saw the drumkit. Quote
planer Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 The European Cymbal Mountain, coupled with 'the more notes I play the better I'll be' just left me stone cold I'm afraid. No warmth in the playing, imho. Quote
Telebass Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 All style, no substance. But give it time... Quote
jezzaboy Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 She might have the chops but that sort of playing does my head in. Quote
Jazzneck Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Sorry, not my cup of tea I'm afraid. Technically superb but I wonder if they could have held the groove and feeling behind Geno Washington on a hot night in the 60s. Quote
dlloyd Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) I didn't like it at all. But I quite like this: ....right up to the bass solo. Edited October 29, 2015 by dlloyd Quote
AndyTravis Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Your kids teachers look young... And when you're a teacher and your kids ask you what it was like in the 50's. I'm 31. Quote

That first clip, despite my disinterest in that style and approach, still demonstrates pretty amazing chops by two very young players. They're only going to get better - and I'll never have chops like that! Quote
AndyTravis Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I watched the video. She's a good bass player. Quote
Bigjas Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Impressive chops, but boring as hell to listen to it for any length of time. When I see these great virtuoso bass players, I often think 'why don't they just play a guitar'? Jas Quote
Lozz196 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Both great players, both leave me cold. Quote
mattbass6 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) Very clever but, left me feeling cold too. Give me songs and melody with some clever, technical flourishes thrown in, when appropriate, any day. Just my opinion of course Edited October 30, 2015 by mattbass6 Quote
BILL POSTERS Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 When you remember Snake belts, and call Converse trainers Baseball Boots. Theyre the same make, but they were cheap. Quote

Painy Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Personally I wish that I could play like her so that I could tastefully refrain from doing so. Quote
