wizbat Posted July 9, 2007 Share Posted July 9, 2007 Stoning is done when the frets are uneven due to wear or bad workmanship and dressing is done by using a fret file and re shaping the fret to a curve after stoning which tends to make the frets that were highest very flat you can also include shaping the ends of a fret when they are first fitted as dressing.
