You can photograph my band any time…👍

Hit me up if you're playing in London and we might work something out 😃

FWIW this is the kind of thing I do when I have a 'proper' camera with me

Got back from two nights and an overnight stay Friday at Trading Boundaries to see Raul Midón on Friday and Peter Jones / Tiger Moth Tales on Saturday. Wen with wifey, one of the guitarists in my main band and his missus and we made a short weekend of it.

Two very different nights stylewise but both great evenings

 - the first  just man / guitar / voice & percussion

The second started with a short 'acoustic' one man set from Peter Jones and then a longer set with the Tiger Moth Tales band. Very accomplished and English prog.

Khruangbin last night in Manchester. A bit of an odd one…. IMO, the Apollo is not the right venue for this. The band were fabulous of course, but the lighting was abysmal, and the sound questionable. I’d much prefer seeing them at an outdoor festival, in the sun for the chilled vibes they present.

I was delighted to have Row A in the circle, thinking I was literally on the front row with a great view and sound. Wrong…. my seat was a ways off to the right with a very restricted view (couldn’t see the drummer) and a bunch of rows in front of me, which seemed to be occupied by the local basketball team. Not the venues fault, but disappointing for me.

Also it was freezing! I’m usually too hot at gigs, but I had a zipped up leather jacket on throughout.

They’re an amazing band, such fantastic musicians, and if you’re in the mood for chilled grooves they’re the band for you.

IME good band photography is mostly down to the skill of the person behind the camera, but it does help if the band and the space they are performing in are photogenic and appropriately lit.

Squeeze at Victoria Theatre Halifax last night. Not seen them before, but really impressed with the musicianship, vocal harmonies (there are 8 of them in the stage band, they all contribute), Glen Tillbrook's pipes and, of course, the tunes. Brilliant!

went to see Black Water County at the Bodega in Nottingham on Saturday, packed small venue with mosh pit, very lively and enjoyable, all of a sudden a drum stick hit me in the face and broke my glasses 😡, which took the shine off the evening somewhat

I will be seeing Squeeze at The Roundhouse in London on Friday. Definitely not my first time though 😀

That’s cool, recently I heard a song I liked and it was by them, so I went down a bit of a rabbit hole listening to a lot of their tunes and reading up on Laura Lee who it says was influenced by reggae and dub , she gets a great sound from her SX jazz and plays some nice Basslines

SX guitars are really good for the price, I wouldn’t be surprised.

I love Khruangbin, and they’re playing in Dublin at the end of the week, but there’s just not enough things falling into place for me to say yes to it this time. I hope they’re touring again soon though!

I may have damned Chris Gifford with faint (nearly non existent) praise. Those kitchen sink stories are both affecting and evocative of an era.

I was feeling bad that I'd not got my act together to go to this, and you've made me feel much better about it thanks!

I was in the front row at a bijou Chris Difford solo show a few years ago and he stopped ‘Tempted’ to berate me for leaving for a call of nature!

I used the disabled loo and came back as the song finished… to be followed in by half a dozen similarly afflicted males he’d given permission to follow my example 😂

Great singer, guitarist and writer, top bloke too. When he played a local gig a few years ago, he covered the

Lou Reed song ‘Perfect Day’, and as there had been a popular charity version of it in the charts he got

various members of the audience up on stage to copy singing the celebrity parts, really funny.

The last time I saw Squeeze live, Jools Holland was still their keyboard player. I was in the tech crew for the university and helped load the gear in for the gig. His rig included all the heavy keyboards of the time - Yamaha CS80 synth and Yamaha CP80 electric grand piano.
