Levellers last night in Basingstoke, first time I've been to a gig with silent stage. An odd experience. Sound was pretty good except for bass and I wonder if it was better further back as we were front row. Tiny speakers to fill the front of stage. Still had a great time and the band were excellent. Mid seventies EB3 was nice to see even if I couldn't Hear it too well.

Sungazer at the Islington Assembly Rooms

 

If you've never heard of them before (and I was one of those people) then check them out. They are awesome, playing proggy jazz-fusion. The bass playing was sublime. So glad my son got those tickets

Cool, was that a quartet lineup or just the duo? They’re in Manchester tonight and I contemplated going but I think it’s just Adam Neely and the drummer, and, well, I didn’t.

What was properly jaw-dropping was £8.35 for a pint of 3.8% Metro session IPA

 

(despite a false start soundwise, they sorted it out pretty quickly and yeah it sounded pretty good. Much better than last time at Heaven, not as good as the Jazz Cafe)

The Darkness on Thursday night at Leicester De Montfort Hall. Absolutely epic. Just pure entertainment and loud rock all rolled into one. Awesome.

Went to see Millie Manders and the Shutup  last night at Bootleg Social in Blackpool. 

Great gig.

Allison Rayner Quintet at the Albany Jazz club in Coventry. They were just brilliant. Superb musicians and jazz rich in harmony and multiple time signatures but still grooving along. `Steve Lodder on keyboards was astonishing!
 

Next gig will be the Santana Tribute band called "Very Santana".

I'm going to pre-empt this one and, as sad as I am that I can not in anyway be there to see the two-nighter shows, I am catching up with Devin Townsend's Moth show which is streaming this evening https://onair.events/devin-townsend-the-moth 

two of my friends are in his touring band and if nothing else I'll be cheering them on BIG STYLE! - Devvy is a legend and has funded the entire project out of his own pocket.

Enjoyed Sungazer (Adam Neely and co.) last night at Future Yard venue in Birkenhead; great gig, plus interesting QandA session before the gig, nerding for the nerds, bass and otherwise

Stood next to the FoH desk and the sound was epic, spent half the gig eyes closed bathed in 3D aural and physical music - didn't much like the venue stage lighting (really bright strips behind the stage facing forward, most bands they'd be either side/behind the drums so less visible bit this band have bass and drums either side and sax and guitar in the middle) but that was the only downside, other than price of beer, the on site food was good with vegan option and a really chilled relaxed attitude all round, had a chat with security guy, who really had an easy night.

We had a chat with the promoter when we arrived, and got her business card - original music is her thing.......fyi

The Illegal Eagles in Ringwood. Stunningly professional, but it was hard to get engaged.
 

I can see why the tickets were £40 each, but I think I’d have been as happy down at the local with a band with a personality.
