ubit Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015
To be fair to Mr Stipe, the dislike of r.e.m is probably more a musical one. But still don't like him
Stipe really is a prick. I seen him getting interviewed by Jools Holland on later. He never cracked a smile the whole interview, then Jools said , maybe you will come back and play for us sometime. Stipe said, yeah we could probably come and do a special or something sometime. Jools, quick as a flash replied, or two or three songs. I thought good on ya Jools! Quote
CamdenRob Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I think that the proliferation of twats in music is just an exposure thing really... there are just as many twats in regular life but it's easier to ignore them as they do not have a platform from which to bestow their twatery upon us. ... also Morrissey clearly wins this contest... 1st prize in the twat contest.. well done that man. 1 1 Quote
ribbetingfrog Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I forgot Morrisey! Just the thought of twirling gladioli makes me want to smash things. Quote

Graham Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I'm a big fan of black metal, but do struggle sometimes with the political outlook and illegal actions of some of the bands, Burzum, Emperor and Darkthrone particularly. Quote
Has much happened in the Black Metal scene for the past 20 years? I saw Emperor at the LA2 back in the late 90s and they were awesome... I guy I jammed with a few times at collage is now in Mayhem. .. love a bit of black metal. Quote
Huge Hands Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I always had this dilemma with Jamiroquai...... Loved the music though (at least until Stu Zender left). Quote
Billy Apple Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I was never keen on Bruce Dickinson and went off Iron Maiden after Di'Anno left. But, it turns out that Di'Anno was the bigger twat all along. Dickinson is a bit of a knob though, but at least I can listen to Number Of The Beast now. Quote

Dandelion Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 What did Darkthrone do? Was it Fenriz's 'inner circle' shenanigans? I bet it was Fenriz.... Quote

Graham Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I'm not sure Fenriz ever did anything, or at least was never charged as far as I know, but they did come out with NS statements in the mid 90s Quote

Lozz196 Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I like bands based on their music, not really fussed on the personalities though I wouldn`t knowingly buy any music from anyone with either far-right or far-left tendencies, nor from anyone known for child abuse. Quote
CamdenRob Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 (edited) ah black metal shenanigans... I had a mate called Black Metal Steve when I was about 17 who tried to burn down a church in colchester... only when he got up on the roof it fell through and he broke both his legs.... ended up being held together with metal plates for a couple of years... .. think he's an accountant these days. fretmeister Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I've never really had this reaction to any artist. Either I like the tune / painting / film / book or I don't. I don't see the need to like the artist before deciding whether I like the art itself. Quote

It's when you quite like the music but some dickhead puts you off and you just can't bring yourself to say you like them. Quote
