Deep Thought
OK ladies and gents, having just bought Platypus's Precision, I need to refill the coffers somewhat so the old Ibanez has to go. It's been my backup bass for the last couple of years, but I am a Precision man and this isn't a Precision. It's a Soundgear Gio GSR200 in jewel blue, which looks very nice, with a lightweight Agathis body and a rosewood fingerboard. It has the Ibanez Phat II active EQ, and sounds pretty impressive, in fact I had several compliments on its sound from other bandmembers. It's certainly bloody loud! It has a P/J style neck and bridge pickups. It has a nice substantial Ibanez bridge. The neck is a typical slim, fast Ibanez one, very nice to play, dead straight and the bass stays in tune for ages. In all it's an ideal starter bass, or backup as I've used it. Now the minus points. It's been knocked about a bit prior to my owning it, all the damage is cosmetic and does not affect the sound or the playability-I wouldn't have bought it if it did. It has one pretty deep ding on the top edge of the body, and a couple of lesser ones on the underside of the top horn, plus a bit of buckle rash on the back. None of this is visible from the front. There's a series of scrapes down the back of the neck, which can be felt, but don't affect the way it plays at all IMO. I've tried to capture all this in the pics. It's been a damn good tool, but view of all the cosmetic imperfections I'm looking for £60 for it, plus postage. Feel free to PM with any questions. Annoying Twit
Reviews on Harmony Central look promising. http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews...nez/GSR200/10/1 I've played both the Stagg BC300 (*), and the Yamaha RBX170, which seem quite similar basses. Modern style P&J pickups. I liked both. How much for some sort of insured delivery to Leicester? What forms of payment do you accept? If it would be less than 1.5m packed, then royal mail standard parcels might work. Only £1 extra for the insurance. The only thing that stopped me buying it at the time was that the second rate "Cash converters" imitation shop (yes, even worse than Cash Converters) are tools. If I end up going for a trip to London to look for basses, I'm definitely including it in the list of things I try.
