goblin
Well I've finally gone and done it. Whilst the Infinity's on it's holidays I probably felt there was a bass shaped void that needed filling haha. This beauty cropped up for sale the other day and I couldn't resist it really. I've been considering a P for a while so I've laid my hands on this 1996 50th Anniversary year MIJ Precision in Candy Apple Red I've never had a natural liking for Ps, but I understand for a lot of the styles I play they're perfect. I nipped up to near Newcastle to pick it up today and went straight to a gig with it afterwards. Sounded and performed absolutely spot on, there's a bit of a chip in the paint but it'll be easy enough to touch up. Set of straplocks, a clean up and some strings and I'll be happy as can be with this one!

RhysP
Can't go wrong with Japanese Fenders IMO - I have a CIJ 57 RI Precision & a CIJ Jazzmaster guitar & they're both great instruments.
Paul S
Can't go wrong with Japanese Fenders IMO - I have a CIJ 57 RI Precision & a CIJ Jazzmaster guitar & they're both great instruments.
Hard to disagree. I have been gradually whittling down my proper basses to number just 8 now, 3 are Japanese Fenders*, 4 are early/mid 80s Squiers. 5 of them medium scale The only odd man out is a Danelectro Longhorn. One - a Precision Lyte - is for sale, folks...
M@23
I had a 1996 50th anniversary in Shell Pink. I want it back :-(
goblin
It's belting, already gigged twice with it this weekend and it sounds huge. Just needs a couple of tweaks. I've ordered a replacement CTS pot as the tone pot is goosed, new set of strings and then needs a setup. But for £350 can I really complain? mattbass6
Great purchase. I still have my '86 MIJ Precision and I will never let it go! Enjoy. They are wonderful basses
Davo-London
I maybe too late, but you sometimes find folk have rewired the bass and the tone pot is perfectly OK, just some goon as rewired it incorrectly. Have a look inside! Davo
goblin
Already checked, the wiring was absolutely fine and untouched. Definitely the pot
