GR-55 - Any use on a bass?

I was thinking of getting a GR-55 and throwing it on a 5 string bass.

I have tried on in a shop on a guitar, and it seems like something I could use, however, not interested in going back to the guitar. I know it has a bass mode, and had a look at a few reviews but they seem variable and by people who were either selling them (roland employees) or by people who had just tried them, not by anyone who had used one for any length of time.

Does anyone use one regularly?

I was looking for general effects and also backing pad sounds etc
