karlfer
Just wondering what is the best way to stack them, photos 1,2 or 3. Basschat experts, your advice please. The cabs consist of 12" speaker on left, top right hole is tweeter, bottom right is port. Thanks as ever in advance, cheers, Karl. Basschat experts, your advice please.
This: It gives the minimum distance between the tweeters while keeping them on the same vertical plane. It would be better to have the cabs mirror imaged, so that the tweeter would be at the top of the lower cab and at the bottom of the upper cab, both on the same vertical plane. That arrangement is specified in my DIY cab plans, but with commercial cabs you don't have that option.
Guest bassman7755
On the basis that the drivers should be vertically aligned and as closely grouped as possible I'll vote for 1 [edit: ninjad by BFM] (apologies for posting an on-topic response) Edited November 11, 2015 by bassman7755
karlfer
Thanks guys, especially Bill as ever. Both tweeters are always off. It's always great to get a professional's advice. Guess that is why Vanderkley make them with that alignment

skychaserhigh
I've had my Vanderkley cab for 3 years now and the carpet covering does indeed have a distinctive smell...not sure it's a curry smell though !
That's interesting, thanks for that. I'm just thinking it's a bit curry like but if your carpet covering has a smell to it, perhaps I'm worrying about nothing. skychaserhigh
I can't smell it when on stage or when the cover is on. It's the best cab I've used so that makes up for the smell !

tonyclaret
Mmm..curry scented bass cabs v wife Tough choice Having a good sniff of your proposed purchase before handing over the reddies is probably a good idea. Watching the sales assistants face...priceless!!
Vanderkley
Hi Karl, That smell you refer to comes from the glue I use for the covering. It is a water based glue instead of solvent based. I use this one because it is healthier for me and the environment. The smell will wear off over time... Personally I would stack the cabs like you did in the first photo but of course you can stack them in whatever way works best for you. Cheers, Marc

The original owner wanted a couple of 210's from Bass Direct, a friend wanted my Berg's, I very much liked the sound of these so a complicated 3 way deal ensued. Must admit, they sound great. One of our guitards texted me on Monday night, that one of his mates, a bassist, had seen us on Sat night and wanted to know what my rig was. He said he was blown away by the sound. Oh, and they are much lighter than the Bergs. Really glad to hear the smell diminishes, guess it's taking a while because they are always in their covers. Thanks again, cheers, Karl.
