Bright, stainless, shortscale flats?

So I have an Epi EB -0 shortscale bass, the Mahogany one, to many on here probably considered a toy (!)

Anyroadup, I really like it, but as everyone knows the Sidewinder pup is a bit muddy, not as muddy as a Muddybucker, but well, its muddy, the tone pot is redundant really, and just sits there sulking......

So to my question please, I like Stainless flats, and I guess the brighter they are, a bit less muddy it will be, as they say in Tesco, every little helps, any recommendations for bright flats?

Thanks!

Paul

These may well do the trick: http://www.status-gr...index_home.html

Status hotwire flats are thumpy, not very bright. I have some on a short scale. I believe its because they are stiff and wound tight - you can't see any gaps between the windings.

Sorry, link hasn't worked quite as I expected - I did intend to link directly to the Half-Round page - these should be brighter than the flats, the longscale ones I tried were.

Thanks. Think the page uses frames, so links can be a problem.

Hi Paul,

As a couple of posters have mentioned D'Addario Chromes flat wounds are relatively bright for flats. We even produce a set suitable for short scale bass ECB81S (45-100).

Hope this helps,

Have these on my short scale Jaguar, sound good relatively bright (though pups are not humbuckers) And they fit! (other makers please note). Have same string type on my Tbird, never muddy.
