Fisheth
Just saw this on Thomann, does this mean Fender Japan are back and making things again? https://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_classic_70s_p_bass_owh.htm Got some GAS that I thought was cured now, dammit.

spongebob
Looks good - Fender logos were better in the '70s IMHO.

karlfer
There are several of these models available from Fender Japan, 50's, 60's and 70's. GAK and RichTone amongst others, have had them for a couple of months. Think it's possible these were commissioned to run down parts in the factory? Or as a last swansong? steviebee74
Fender Japan have never stopped producing but because they tend to be produced "under license" rather than by fender themselves, there's certain restrictions as to who can distribute them (and in turn, where they tend to be retailed). You can still order them direct from Japan using the rakuten site as well as other online retailers. They nearly always come with great hardware and pickups but oddly need the wiring, pots and sockets etc upgrading. A friend of mine lives in Tokyo and often tells me of the wonderful goodies he spots in stores over there.
