Apologies if this has been asked a million times (hope I'm not exaggerating :) ) but I've just sort of impulsively purchased a 30" scale bass and am looking for the best Flatwounds that would be similar to my usual TI JF344's I use on my other basses.

Any advice would be most welcome :)

if you like TIs why not get the short scale version?

Don't think there is a short scale version of TI flats. (but check their website). Jf324s 'Short Scale' are 32 inch, I have these on my 32" Telebass.

TI324s should be ok - I use them for short scale (well the rounds anyway). A lot depends on the bass - I tend to use short-scales with a separate string anchor and bridge

Thanks for all your feedback. I thought about the TI's but wasn't sure about the 32" strings on a 30" bass (a Gibson SG Standard).

In the end I went for a set of La Bella 760FL's so will see how I get on :)

This is TI JF324s on a 32" Tele bass. You can see E only just fits, the fat part is around the peg, by about a fifth of a turn. Looks like they are more suited to a 2+2 headstock, rather than 4 inline, but not likely to be much use on a 30"

D'Addario Chromes short scale (ECB81S) on a Squire 30".

It would be good if manufacturers stated the ball to silk lengths. Don't think any do? I've only seen lengths given on Bass Direct's website.

Lots of winding lengths here too ...
