gillento
I do not wa nt to start a discussion about UK made quality vs Asian made I am simply curious: Online I found a picture of the 1200: http://www.gearnuts....EIV_detail4.jpg it says made in PRC. Here's a link to a german online store: https://www.musicsto...tZD0000Xbt9o1Zm So who owns any of these and can confirm? BassBunny
I think the words "Designed and Engineered in England" have been taken somewhat out of context by Music Store. If you look at the manual. http://ashdownmusic.com/files/product/file/user_manual_20150211111143_92483.pdf It clearly says "Designed and Engineered in England Manufactured in PRC"
grenadilla
The ABM 410H I recently got came with a card saying: "Wuhan Eleca Electronics Co., LTD." Wuhan can be found on a good map of China. Maybe they do the heads also. I want an ABM 600 amp. I got the ABM 600 amp . Lovely blue color and it sounds great ! Merton
The only UK made Ashdown heads from the current crop are the valve series as far as I know. I think the first batch of EVO IVs were UK too but now it's the custom valve heads and Foundation cabs only. I believe anyway... Merton
PS, the build Quality of Ashdown's Chinese stuff is impeccable if any of my RM amps and cabs, and CTM30, are to go by
Chienmortbb
The original MAG series heads and combos were made in the UK I believe. The Mag 200s I think. The 300 watt MAGS were from China.
jezzaboy
I have a 2005 MAG 300 head, that was originally part of a 1x15 combo and that is UK made. Im a bit dissapointed that they only make a few heads in the UK now. Having said that, I would buy some of their Chinese stuff. gillento
My ABM EVO3 is a custom shop UK unit. So I am a bit scared of flipping it for a EVO4 as long as I havn't heard/seen or read about a decent comparison between both heads,
Naetharu
The 300 watt MAGS were from China.
My MAG-300 says make in the UK - probably one of those things where they have done some in both the UK and China through the amps lifetime. Also, I'd second the build quality of the Ashdown stuff. I have the Mi-Bass 2.0 head and it is a very solid unit. I'm not too thrilled with the EQ on it (personal taste issue) but I cannot fault it for build quality.
The standard production ABM EVO 4 is made at our facility in China so hence the designed in UK and Made in PRC, however we do offer an option for UK made if people wish to pay the premium, also due to demand since the launch of the EVO 4 we have actually been building batches in England to fulfil orders in between China shipments so because of this there is actually quite a few made in England versions out there in stores. I.e the ABM 1200 that Music Store have listed here is in fact a UK made model so they are correct... Hope this helps
Me too Merton - I used an evo2 300 head for years and I loved the EQ points, worked so well for me...changed to a class-d setup this year (tecamp) and had to chase down the sound I was looking for after using the evoii for so long - ended up buying a sansamp para-driver (same as the bass driver but with a sweepable mid control) and that pretty much got me there. Thing is what I spent on the amp and the sansamp, could have bought me the EVO IV head. Live and learn!
