leschirons
Been looking forward to this prog as I think he's one of the best songwriters around. However, the choice of vocalists covering his work live (full orchestra of course) is really dire. Rebecca Fergusson seems to covering the Dionne Warwick hits badly. Her voice is way too harsh and cold for that, and "What the world needs now" sung by Justin Hayward?? It was like a bad Anthony Newley impersonation. Still, great songs though. yorks5stringer
Programme almost a total embarrassment. Grade asking dumb stupid questions, Burt looking very uneasy and a host of motley 'artists' murdering the songs. Sophie Ellis-Bextor....! That Michael chappy looked terrified. Only decent bit the medley partially sung by Burt and his Orchestra.
Behlmene
Love Bacarach, Sorry I missed the program. Maybe next time.
pfretrock
What a pity. Great songs, I love his stuff. But have some consolation.

Funnily enough, the wife was listening to her version of "Up on the roof" yesterday. She covered some great songs despite being one of the best writers around. Saw her live in the 70's Re the B.B. thing, I'll also console myself by burning a greatest hits CD for the car and playing it to death. DavidMcKay
Agree - most of the songs were murdered. Makes you realise how good the original/established vocalists were. Bacharach really came alive at the piano though!
