Chris Sharman
Evening All! Our keyboard player has just informed us that his Access Virus Synth has died on him this afternoon. This may spell the end of our final gig of the year as the only person he knows that can fix them is busy until next year and the manufacturers repair centre is in Germany and also cant look at it for a long time. My question then m'learned colleagues is do any of you (or your keyboard playing friends) know/have awarenss of/keep as a pet a tame synthesiser repair specialist? GarethFlatlands
It might help if you put up where you were based so people could suggest places near(ish) you? I'd imagine those things are a bugger to ship up and down the country although needs must sometimes.
alyctes
Geofio is selling one... he might know? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/259109-access-virus-ti2-61-key-synthesizer-new-in-box-now-l1350/
Chris Sharman
Thanks chaps. We are based in Derbyshire although to be honest anywhere is probably closer than Germany in this context.... Alcytes... thanks for that I will give him a shout. Think he may now have a temporary fix in place allowing us to work albeit on a much reduced output level which we are going to preamp to a stronger signal level allwoing for this one gig. After that we have some months until our next one. It still needs fixing properly, having said that if anyone does know someone suitable still feel free to post suggestions. GarethFlatlands
Only synth repair place I know around here is Nightingale Audio in Sheffield but I don't have any personal experience with them. I'll ask on FB for you as I've got an old Wavestation that needs looking at as well. Edit: Nightingale seems very well thought of by my FB friends who've used him. Chris Sharman
Thanks Gareth. Sheffield not being a million miles away I will point Richard in that direction. Cheers.
GarethFlatlands
No problems, hope he can sort it out. Fair warning, apparently he could talk for England!
geofio
problem is the Virus is made from custom boards etc and the only place you will get parts for them is from Access !!! in Germany. and they may want to see the synth first.
