Portnoy will be the hired-gun 'Chester Thompson' for the tour. Peart will go on record wishing him well and giving him his blessing. Maybe even appearing in an ironic concert video waving off G&A... No-one will give a stuff about the new material, giving it a polite clap for it getting them all back in the studio... But the place will erupt as the opening legato lick of 'Spirit...' is played...
